Pieces-of-New-York

Union Square

Since I have been in New York, I’ve spent quite some time in Union Square. Wandering the paved alleys in search for the perfect wooden bench with enough exposure to the afternoon sunlight. Taking a seat while carefully avoiding pigeon shit, next to the granola mom gobbling her $12.99 pound of detox salad from Wholefood’s. Union Square is one of the best places in the city to people watch.  Besides being a park it’s also a restaurant terrace, pic-nick spot, performance hall, chest club, farmer’s market, outdoors gym and dating favorite. Union Square is constantly swarming with New Yorkers and tourists but it hasn't always been the most glamorous site attraction. Back in the 70s it was buzzing with drug dealers and heroin addicts.
